Permanent ????
Till four months ago, there were just two meaningful purposes i was serving while i was in office. First thing was to educate the people who share my cabin about good music and the second to update them with the cricket scores. I got more famous for the latter as people from each and every corner made it a point to visit my workstation to check out the score. For reasons i till date fail to understand, these guys never keep their cricbuzz.com page open despite being the ones who need a ball by ball update of the score.
On the match days, as soon as i enter my block, i used to be greeted with these words... " match shuru hogaya ?? ". If there is a delay due to weather or something, its worse.... The same questions keep coming on over a loop!
The other day i was busy reading some cricinfo site and following the India Vs Sri Lanka match. Pathan hit a maximum and I shouted "pathan hits a six!! " with all excitement and turned around to look for Phani(the dude at the neighbouring workstation), but instead to my shock i found my Project Manager standing right infront of me holding a paper in his left hand and offering his right hand to me. I was about to go MAD!!...but he said "Congratulations". I was totally zapped!!!....(*.. is he trying to be funnny/sarcastic ??? *). But he wasnt kidding... he said, " You have been made a permanent employee, all the best" and handed over my confirmation letter. For a moment, i went blank and then gathered my composure and said a half hearted thank you. The i felt.. i guess i am paid for entertaining people!!!

Damn cool!!! Just wondering who else was around when you did this? We used to have something like this in our lab (with big TVs) and when a opposition wicket falls, the who floor is jamming the lab. Your narration is too good and makes me remember my good old memories :-)
